皮膚の細菌叢や皮膚感染症の病原体の評価を行なっています。特に真菌（カビ），抗酸菌について皮膚のサンプルから培養あるいは網羅的マイクロバイオーム解析を行い，健康管理や皮膚疾患の予防と治療に結びつけています。
We are evaluating the bacterial flora of the skin and the pathogens of infectious skindiseases. In particular, we have been conducting culture or comprehensive microbiome analysis from skin samples for fungi (mycobacteria) and mycobacteria to link them to health management and prevention and treatment of skin diseases.
皮膚科の臨床と直結しており，細菌の評価のみならず，皮膚の状態を医学の専門的な目線で評価できることが私たちの強みです。竹中 基准教授は，日本皮膚科学会皮膚真菌症診療ガイドライン2019の作成に携わるこの領域のエキスパートです。小池雄太講師は乾癬（炎症性皮膚疾患）の真菌（カビ）をゲノムワイドに網羅的解析を行い，その成果が第34回日本乾癬学会の研究奨励賞を受賞しました。
